As founder and director of Transformation House,
I am glad to present to you the options that are available to anyone
who is chemically addicted. This program would be an excellent choice
to help you change your life. We are a client-centered program where
each person is individually assessed for the type of treatment program
they will be given. Transformation House was established by
me in 1990. Having 45 years of experience as a chemical dependency
professional, I personally observed the desperate and daily need
to help persons who are chemically dependent with honesty, love
and respect. At Transformation House, chemical dependency professionals
look at the person in terms of addictions, cultures, family background,
needed changes and future goals. The warm surroundings at Transformation
House create an understanding atmosphere that is conducive to abstinence
and growth. The program has a strong spiritual basis respecting
each person's individual spirituality. |

At Living Free Recovery Services, we believe
that spiritual impoverishment is an important aspect of chemical
abuse, which must be addressed for effective treatment. Our approach
seeks to bring wholeness to every area of the client's life: spirit,
soul and body.
Clients enter the program at many different
levels in their relationship with God. Some are not even Christian,
but desire a Christian program. The staff is sensitive to
working with the individuals right where they are at, one step at
a time. The program is non-denominational and doctrinal differences
are respected. In addition to spiritual issues, the treatment
approach considers the client's biological, sociological, psychological,
and relational factors. No single method is used in treating addiction,
allowing different treatments for different individuals. Many have
grown up in a family or social environment that was/is conducive
to developing chemical abuse. These individuals must take into account
that chemical use is a learned behavior, adopted to cope with life's
situations. For some, addiction goes back for generations and a
biological predisposition may have influenced the behavior. Still
others may be using chemicals to address psychological issues such
as depression. Each individual's program is custom-tailored to meet
their particular needs. The common thread in every program is that
biblical principles are applied to enable the client to renew their
mind, experience emotional soundness, and change their behavior.
Christian coping skills are also taught, in order to better equip
the client to deal with high-risk situations and feelings. We believe
these tools greatly decrease the probability of relapse.
A trained, experienced team works with clients to bring about and
maintain recovery. All counselors are born again, Spirit-filled
and professionally trained in addictions. The center is licensed
by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. We also have available
a consulting Registered Nurse, licensed psychologists and pastoral
care from Living Word Christian Center. |

Avalon–Cottage Grove offers outpatient
treatment services to men and women. Our eclectic therapeutic approach
is abstinence-based and draws from: 12-Step Principles; Reality
Therapy; Cognitive Skills Training; Family Systems Dynamics; and
Relapse Prevention Models. We provide individual care and treatment
that is tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each client.
Length of stay in the program is flexible and based on the client’s
progress and level of functioning. Our staff works closely with
a range of community resources to build a support system which promotes
the client’s long-term recovery. As part of treating the “whole
person,” Avalon-Cottage Grove clients undergo a comprehensive pre-admission
interview. The session includes a review of the client’s psychological
and sociological history. Two levels of treatment intensity are
offered: • High Intensity: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from
6 to 9 p.m. Length of stay at this level of care generally lasts
from 10 to 18 sessions. • Low Intensity: Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.
Length of stay at this level of care generally lasts from 6 to 12
sessions. We use a variety of treatment activities including: Group
therapy; individual counseling; educational films and lectures;
skill-building workshops; and concerned person conferences. Psychiatric
and psychological consults are available as needed. To ensure continuity
of care, clients work with the same case manager throughout their
time in the program. |

In the deadly game of substance abuse and
addiction, adolescent females have become like young men and are
paying a higher price for it. For women, substance abuse is inexorably
linked to sexual assault, unwanted pregnancy, diseases such as lung
cancer, cirrhosis, and AIDS, skyrocketing prison populations and
child abuse and neglect. Moreover, women and their addictions are
at much higher risk for depression, low self-esteem, and alcohol-related
physical problems. There are young girls who are recovering
from drug and/or alcohol addiction and are trying to improve their
lives. Join us in creating a positive environment for them.
T.L.C. (Temporary Living Center) is a place where adolescent girls
begin the recovery process away from chemical dependency by supporting
one another and through the help professional counselors. This is
the place that will give them strength to begin their new lives,
drug and alcohol free. |
